Feed the Beast

My name is Katie Lovecraft and I'm a still life photographer, Phase One digital tech, donut enthusiast, and lover of water slides.

Let's go on an adventure!

It’s my birthday weekend! It’s my birthday weekend! Party party party!

Colby picked me up from work early today to whisk me away to a secret weekend getaway location. To say that I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl is an understatement. So far we’ve eaten an epic lunch at Loving Hut, sang loudly in the car, and soaked up some gorgeous views across the Golden Gate Bridge as we head north.

My man loves me. Yes he do.

I shot these photos on a rainy winter day in Pacifica, CA.  When this guy was walking up the beach after surfing that beastly wave, I just couldn’t hide my nerdy enthusiasm and I gave him an air high-five.  Unsurprisingly enough, he didn’t return the sentiment.

Hey look, I found some cows. After navigating through an ocean of cow pies, I snapped some photos of these beautiful beasts in the Oakland Hills. They were about as excited to see me as you might think.

I love Violett because she respects the sacred rules of Birthday Month.

Chinese food and ponies aplenty!

Since I hurt my foot a few weeks ago, I’ve been pretty bummed.  The weather has been really beautiful, and being stuck on the couch when I could be running around outside was killing me.  This was the first weekend that I’ve been able to walk around without any pain, so Colby and I took to the hills.  It felt so good to build up my momentum again.

Here are some Instagram snapshots from my weekend.

Dexter loves adventure!

Colby and I are dogsitting this weekend, so we decided to take the little dude for a jaunt in the hills.  I’ve known this pup for almost 10 years, and it felt good to spend some quality time with him for the first time since we were roomies back in Kentucky.

Weekend Update

  1. Violett and I are going to write a book called Let Me Tell You Something About Your Wang.
  2. This season of The Bachelor is so trashy and fantastic. I feel like it’s a dream come true. It’s like the World Cup of hilarious reality television. If I enjoyed drinking, I would want to play a drinking game where you take a shot every time some girl starts crying or says, “I’m here because I’m real.”
  3. I may or may not have a stress fracture in my left foot (I guess that’s what I get for raging too hard). Doctors are for rich people, so I’ll just continue to walk around in my foot-soothing rain boots until it heals.
  4. Watching dogs roll around in the grass and feeding baby goats make me happier than most things in the world.

Sweets and Cervixes

The past couple weeks have been really frustrating, but this weekend’s weather put me in such a good mood.  68 degrees and sunny in January?  I’ll take it.  The sunshine afforded me the perfect opportunity to sprawl out in the park and spend some quality time catching up with my good pal Martha Stewart.

Feed me all your donuts.

Have you been to the vegan donut farm?  It’s awesome.  It’s been open for maybe a year now (at this location), but I feel like the quality of the donuts has been steadily increasing with each visit.  Forget my gross affinity for Krispy Kreme; I’m committing my heart to Pepple’s Donuts.

Aside from having some of the best raised glazed donuts I’ve ever munched, they also have a huge variety of artisan cake donuts in fun flavors and a full brunch menu.  Check out that breakfast burrito!  It was beastly and delicious.

Oh, and they have some sort of plastic donut mascot that sits outside their door, and it totally looks like a withering asshole.  Fun!
